Massey Figure Skating Team
Mustang history was made once again
on Tuesday March 4th, 2014, when the Massey skating team leapt into
the competition at the Annual Skate
Canada Western Ontario High School Skating Invitational, held at the
East Elgin Community Complex in Aylmer, ON.
It was quality over
quantity for the Massey team, who, consisting of only three members Kristen
Moerchen of grade 9, Alyssa Brown of grade 11, and Mouna Zarghami of grade
9, entered the competition with 37 teams, and came in 5th overall!
The three competitors proved
that strength and skill can definitely prevail over a smaller number, with
Kristen Moerchen winning both the Pre-Introductory Interpretive and Gold Ladies
categories, Alyssa Brown winning second in the Gold Ladies category, and Mouna
Zarghami taking 6th in the Junior Bronze category. Kristen and Alyssa placed second in the Team
Element 3 category, and all glided away from the competition feeling victorious
and proud of their accomplishments!
Congratulations once
again to the Massey Figure Skating Team, and thank you to coach Mrs. Morton,
for never failing to inspire and motivate our young athletes to keep reaching for
new heights!
