The Massey
Wrestling Team once again showed their strength at OFSAA championships held on
the week of March 3rd, 2014.
Living up to their mascot name which symbolizes strength, agility, and
alertness, The Mustang Boys defeated for the Overall Team Champions Title, and
The Combined Girls and Boys Team took second overall!
Our Mustangs
are the first local boys’ team since the 1987 Sandwich Sabres to tie or win a
provincial championship, making this not only a win for the team and for Massey
Secondary, but also a reason for the entire community of Windsor-Essex to
rejoice and take pride!
Standings
were as follows:
·
Francis Yuen - First place (gold)
·Hasan Hawilo - Third place (bronze)
·
Ahmed Clayb - Third place (bronze)
·
Brody Collison - Third place (bronze)
·
Julia Lei - 5th place
Excellent contributions were also
made by Youssef Clayb, Seth Laforet-Clemerson, and Hanna Leis.
A special
thank you is extended to coaches Mr. Andreas, Mr. Bannon, Mr. Fihn, Mr.
Collison, and Mr. Thomson, whose dedication to nightly practices helped heat up
the way to victory through an albeit cold, but nonetheless work-filled and productive
winter! Congratulations Massey Wrestling
Team once again!
