Children's Christmas Party
CCP 2.JPG

Seasonal merriment proved to be contagious as staff, administration, and students gathered for Vincent Massey’s Annual Children’s Christmas Party, held on Saturday December 13th , 2014.

Held on site at Vincent Massey, the Children’s Christmas Party is considered to be the signature event for the year, and the heart of our Mustang population was evident from the sheer volume of students and staff present to help make the day a success.   Approximately 300 Massey students were present on site--- providing each child with individual attention, helping to run activities, or cooking behind the scenes in the kitchen!

The day, although magical in spirit, did not conjure up on its own--- under the guidance and hard work of Mr. Mackenzie and Ms. Dissanayake, many weeks of thought and planning went into ensuring that everything was as perfect and entertaining as possible for our guests!   Massey’s All Night Dance was held in order to raise funds for the event, and students were paired with a child from within the community earlier in the year in order to ensure that everyone was as comfortable and relaxed as possible for the day.  Many weeks of baking, shopping, preparation of crafts, food, and decorations for the school were also arranged by our hardworking students and staff!

The result of this labour was unmistakable as approximately 200 merry little visitors were greeted into a winter wonderland filled with festive decorations, music, games, crafts, merry elves, and even a visit with Santa himself!  The joy and enthusiasm of the day radiated throughout the halls and only continued to build as teams rotated through stations of games, activities, crafts, and lunch.  Each child was also given a gift during the visit with Santa to remember the day.

From the vast array of entertainment, attention, and activities provided to each child, the most valued aspect of the day was the amount of spirit and kindness displayed from all present.  Our students learn many lessons from their years of education with us, but some of the most valuable lessons learned form memories which they will hold dear in their hearts.  In the years to come, we know that those who participated in this special day will remember the matchless joy and satisfaction earned when working together as a community to celebrate and give back to others.
