Vincent Massey Student to Compete for Canada
Massey Secondary once again has reason to celebrate one of our own as 15 year old grade 10 student Rachel Tao prepares to represent Canada in the World Youth Chess Championships. The competition, which is to be held in Durban, South Africa, will run September 19th to September 30th, 2015.
Rachel, who will be the official representative for Canada for the Girls Under 16 Section, has had plenty of experience with chess success thus far. She recently finished 2nd in the Canadian National Chess Championship held in Montreal this previous summer of 2015--- an accomplishment which will surely help her as she prepares to face off with some of the best young chess players in the world.
As one of the few females to practice competitive chess playing, and the only competitor from the Windsor Essex area to recently experience success at such a high level, Rachel has given the community a reason to be proud. In a game where focus, mental calculation, logic, foresight, planning, and knowledge determine every point, she is excited to meet each new challenge presented by every game. Good luck Rachel---- we are all delighted for your success, and look forward to viewing your upcoming competition!
