Massey Succeeds at St. Clair Competitions

The Massey Mustangs had a successful weekend displaying their skills and hard work on Saturday March 28th, 2015, while competing in both the St. Clair Skills Competition and the Regional Science Fair, held at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario!

During the Regional Science Fair, 6 Mustangs represented Massey and proved to be promising scientists, earning a total of $200 in monetary prizes! Our future scientists will surely be grateful and benefit from their hard work, as the proceeds will go towards purchasing equipment for the Massey science department! Ninth grade Massey student Tasnia Nabil impressed all present and won the Gold with her cancer research project Ferromagnetic Nano Therapy: A New Cure for Cancer. Tasnia will go on to compete in the Canadian National Science Fair! Other Mustang participants made Massey proud as well, with awards as follows

GOLD Winners:

Rikin Katyal also won gold with his SmartSync project.

BRONZE Winners:

Marah Damdoum: Environmental effects of a Wind Turbine's Colour. Marah also received an oral communications award and University of Ottawa entrance scholarship.

Madhu Yadiki: Waste to Watts. She received $100 and a medal.

Collin Barker: Water, Electricity and Explosives: What Could Go Wrong? Received an oral communications award, and a $1000 University of Windsor entrance scholarship.

SILVER Winner:

Niya Vanganur: Cyborgs: A novel approach to control the beetle's flight. Niya received $100, and a medal.

Thanks to Miss Braccio for her time and efforts, which have helped bring Mustang innovation to a Canada-wide level!

At the Technological competition, Mustangs proved to be a cut above the rest, with Massey students Charith Jayatilaka and Austin Gignac placing 1st and 2nd in the Precision Metal Cutting category, respectively. In the two-person Carpentry division, Faaron Belanger and Dustyn Lachine were the foundation of a great team, as they built their way to success and finished in 3rd place!

Congratulations once again to all of our innovative, creative, skilled, and hard working Mustangs, who show us time and again that enthusiasm for learning sparks the fire of innovation, creativity, knowledge, and skill--- loving what you learn and appreciating achievement is the greatest reward of all!
