Vincent Massey Secondary
School's Eco Club, Massey Green, were excited to raise money to donate to World
Vision. Through the sales of non-toxic plastic and stainless steel reusable
water bottles we have raised $2100, enough for 21 families to have a lifetime
of clean drinking water. In the process we educated students on the importance
for people everywhere to have access to fresh drinking water and why our own
drinking water is so precious.
Students had a lot of fun
going around selling water bottles and conducted water "taste tests"
where we dispelled the myth that bottled water is better than regular tap
water. Some of our own teachers couldn’t tell the difference! Our school
recently installed three water refill stations and we are continually working
towards reducing the amount of plastic waste that the student body generates.
We raised awareness about the benefits of using reusable bottles and encouraged
them to stop using single-use disposable bottles.
This has been a wonderful experience
for our Massey Green Eco Club members and all the students that participated.
We are so grateful to have had this opportunity to impact the lives of these
families at this special time of the year.
