to Enhance Personal Success (STEPS) Program began at Belle River Secondary
School in the fall of 2009.
In partnership with the community, S.T.E.P.S.
programming provides learning opportunities that support, challenge and inspire
all students to achieve their full potential and enable them to participate
meaningfully in their communities.
The S.T.E.P.S. Program consists of courses,
supports and experiences designed to meet the needs of students with severe
learning and physical challenges in Secondary School environments. The program is designed to allow students the
opportunity to proceed at a rate of learning that is appropriate to their
ability, needs and interests.
The purpose of the S.T.E.P.S. program is to provide
those individuals who have developmental disabilities an environment that
promotes learning while gaining the skills needed to be successful in everyday
