Official Government Announcement
The purpose of this communication is to provide clarity on the Ministry’s direction on the confirmation of elementary students’ self-assessment results as noted in the previous “April Break Communication to Families and Educator Guide: A Healthy and Safe Return to School - Spring“ memo. On the first day after the spring break, every student (or their parent/guardian) is to provide confirmation that the student is eligible to attend school. This is not intended to be a daily confirmation like the process for our secondary students.
In consultation with a group of elementary administrators, the easiest implementation of this one day mandate is verbal confirmation. It was determined that students will be asked by school personnel to confirm that the students did take the self-assessment and are eligible to attend school as per the Ministry of Education school screening tool. While upper elementary students will be able to confirm, it may be more challenging for younger students to do so. Parents/guardians may communicate with the school that their child passed the screening through Edsby or through a written note. We have also sent home a pink confirmation slip that you may take advantage of.
