The Learning Commons at General Amherst High School offers a wide variety of best-selling paperbacks, hardcover fiction, non-fiction as well as reference books. Students are to return all borrowed books or materials on or before the assigned due date. A fine of ten cents per day per item will be charged for all overdue materials. Students will be held financially accountable for lost and/or damaged books or materials.
Students are expected to work quietly while in the Resource Centre. While some interaction may be necessary to assist with the learning process, students are encouraged to be considerate of others. Students who fail to cooperate will be asked to leave the Resource Centre.
The computers in the Resource Centre are to be used for school-related assignments only. All students are required to fill out and sign an Acceptable Computer Use Form. Students who use computers in an unacceptable manner (i.e. Chat rooms, computer games, inappropriate websites etc.) may be disciplined or lose the privilege to use a computer for a period of time.
Individual students coming from class must present a signed library pass to the Resource Centre staff when they arrive. This slip will be signed and provided to the student on their return to class.
