Nearly the entire staff and student body stood in the rain on September 19th to pay tribute to Dave Scott, a former teacher and coach who spent 43 of his 71 years working with young people at General Amherst High School.
Scott died after a long battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gherig's Disease) which didn't force him to give up coaching until 2016. He began his teaching career in 1968 and coached football, track and field and basketball. Dave continued to work with the football team in the years following his retirement.
To honour the late Bulldog icon, students and staff stood silently outside the school as the funeral procession passed by.
