The government of Ontario has ordered all schools in the province will be closed from March 14 through to April 5 due to the emergence of the COVID-19 virus
The Ministry of Education has cancelled all EQAO assessments for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. The literacy requirement (OSSLT/OSSLC) has been waived for students graduating this year.
Students not eligible for graduation this year will write the OSSLT during the 2020-21 school year.
The MHSS event scheduled for tonight at Kennedy CI has been cancelled.
With the exception of the
Community Kitchen all dual credit classes for St. Clair Campus’s at both
Windsor and Chatham have been cancelled for today Thursday 27th
All GECDSB elementary, secondary and continuing education schools will be closed to students and students transportation will be cancelled.

Update for week of Feb. 10-14
Rotating strikes have been scheduled:
- by ETFO (elementary) on Tues. Feb. 11 & Wed. Feb 12 - All elementary schools will be closed to students those days -
- and by OSSTF (secondary) on Thurs. Feb. 13 which will result in both secondary and elementary schools being closed to students on that day

January 27th Update
The GECDSB is not impacted by any rotating strikes
GECDSB schools will all be open, as usual, on Wednesday, January 15th...area OSSTF members will not be participating in the latest rotating strike action
Due to a one day strike by Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation all GECDSB elementary and secondary schools will be closed to students and student transportation will not operate.
Schools will reopen and student transportation will resume on Thursday, January 9th.
Important information in regard to a possible strike by OSSTF on Wednesday, January 8th - if the one day strike is not averted GECDSB elementary and secondary schools will be closed

Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 6:00pm in General Amherst High School gymnasium, there will a community meeting to view the new High School Plans (General Amherst and Western). There will also be an opportunity for anyone to provide input and speak to members of the committee.
