The Minister of Education has announced that schools will be closed until the end of June and our distance learning model will continue. Given this news, the Board is developing procedures for students and parents to safely enter the school to retrieve personal items. We will let you know when these procedures are finalized so that we can arrange times for pick up.
Our staff will also be providing virtual, interactive instruction for students with their teacher. Please be sure to take advantage of this opportunity for your child to learn with staff and their peers. If you encounter difficulty accessing these live sessions, please notify your child's teacher through Edsby or call the school office.
All of our students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 have access to the Lexia Core 5 Reading program and Grade 6 through 8 have access to the Lexia Power Up reading program. We have seen wonderful results for those students who use these programs regularly. Licenses for these programs have been extended until August 31st so that students can continue to take advantage of them over the next few months.
Again, thank you for your continued partnership during these challenging times. Take care, be safe and have a wonderful evening.
The GECDSB has developed a Distance Learning Guide for parents / guardians. Please see the attached file for information and resources.
