The GECDSB Virtual School Education Committee is seeking to garner input from various stakeholder groups including our parents/guardians.
We also have prepared a feedback form (link below) that will be made available through our website and in social media welcoming families to share their thinking with us. We are looking forward to receiving feedback as to their experience this past year in reference to their child’s/children’s learning experience. We are also seeking their thinking as to possible learning models should they be available in the future (under COVID conditions) and (beyond COVID conditions). The feedback provided does not constitute a commitment for parents/guardians to a model of learning at this time. This feedback form is simply a method of understanding the experience this past year and gauging parent/guardian thinking as to models that may be available in the near or distant future.
The parent/guardian voice is invaluable to us in moving forward to plan for the fall and beyond. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
A cost effective way to pack lunches and keep our Earth green!

The provincial government has updated the Covid-19 School Screening Tool. It provides more information regarding symptoms. In addition, the WECHU has provided a revised flow chart outlining the next steps for parents when a child reports symptoms. Please note the following change:
If your child reports symptoms at school, parents have the option to:
1. Take their child to an assessment centre.
2. Consult with their primary care provider. If the primary care provider deems the symptoms are due to an alternative diagnosis, the child can return to school once symptom-free for 24 hours.
3. Choose not to test or consult their primary care provider. In this case, the child must self isolate for 14 days from symptom onset.
We ask that parents/guardians continue to review the checklist daily and keep children at home if they exhibit any of the symptoms. Please see the attached checklist and flow chart for more information. Thank you.
This Monday, September 21st is WORLD GRATITUDE DAY!
What are you grateful for in your lfe? It can be something big like family, friends, clean water, healthy food, a safe country to live in, nature, the beach etc... OR even something small like an awesome pillow, super soft sweater, your favourite dessert or spiced pumkin latte ;)
What makes your heart fill up? What gives you the warm fuzzies?
Did you know that thinking about things that make you happy, can actually change your BRAIN and BODY CHEMISTRY? It can improve your emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health. Yes, it is science! So, how do we practise gratitude and experience these amazing benefits for ourselves?
Here are some ideas:
1) This week, start a Gratitude Journal - write down 3 things that you are grateful for each day. Or use post it notes, write one thing you are grateful for each morning, and post it on the bathroom mirror.
2) Try a guided meditation for gratitude: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buNWXEBM_ag&app=desktop There are 1000s on youtube for children, teens and adults.
3) Show gratitude: Say thank you to your bus driver, parents, teachers, that special friend who makes you laugh... Write a thank you note to someone you appreciate.
4) Create Grateful Art- make a collage, painting or picture of al the things that you are grateful for in your life.
5) Bedtime Gratitude - as you are falling asleep, think of one good thing that happened in your day, really think about it, savour and focus on the positives.
