The afternoon will be jammed packed with Veterans, students, music, children's activities and talks given by local historians.

Edsby for Parents & Guardians

We are inviting you to a new communications platform - Edsby.  Edsby pulls together up-to-the-minute information about your children and presents it in a clear, easy to understand and comprehensive format.  You can see their attendance and if posted, their assigned homework and the specifics of what they are being taught in each class each day.  You can also see school news from Edsby as well.  Edsby keeps everything safe and secure within the confines of our school meaning there is no opportunity for anyone from the outside world “allowed in”. We invite you to get involved!  The teachers and students are just starting to use this communication tool within the classroom and depending on the class, parents will see a variance in use.  The next step will involve inviting you into the classroom.  Because your username will be your email address, only those who have provided their email address to the school office will be invited to Edsby at this time.  Edsby provides each parent/guardian with their own account so we encourage you to ensure we have all email addresses.  If you would like to start learning more about Edsby, visit  They have a page specifically dedicated for parents including an introductory video you can watch.   Edsby also has a free app for all iOS and Android smart phones and tablets. If you’re using a Blackberry, Edsby works great within your browser.  The power of Edsby while using your smart device means you’ll have up-to-the minute access regarding school information anywhere, anytime.

Elementary out of district applications must be received by the Principal of the receiving school by May 1 of each year for September of the same year.  This deadline is strictly enforced.

We have a new security system in the school. Visitors must be buzzed in as all of the doors will be locked and video surveillance is in effect. Please read the Safe Welcome Information below:

Every Child's Safety Is Our #1 Priority!
Please obey the no-parking signs and painted pavement. We
have the Kiss and Ride zone for quick drop-off, and our bus zones
must be clear of idling or parked cars. We also need
to keep the primary walkway (by the recycling bin enclosure) clear. This area is not a parking zone, even just for ‘a second’.
Parents should not be parking their cars or sitting in cars blocking the bus zone.
Please avoid using the staff parking lot in front of the school. There is no supervision and spaces are limited for staff and GECDSB personnel. Please do not use the handicapped spot when dropping off or picking up your child. Thank-you for your co-operation.
Your Child's Health:
Instrument Donations
If you have an instrument at home that you are willing to donate to the school (even if it needs minor repairs), it would be gratefully received. Your donation will be recognized in our monthly newsletter and with a plate on the instrument case naming the donor.
Waste Free Lunches
The Enviro Club has been working hard to raise awareness in our school. Please remind your child to recycle and please pack lunch items in containers that can be reused. Compost containers have been placed in classrooms. We have a dedicated team of students who are overseeing this entire operation!
We are working hard to reduce the garbage in our school.

McWilliam has joined forces with Boston Pizza. If your family, co workers, relatives go to Boston Pizza and sign the back of their receipt, McWilliam will receive 10% of the bill. This excludes taxes but includes food and beverage purchases. Please ask your server where to put the receipt once completed. Thank you again for your continued support of our school.
