The Greater Essex County District School Board is pleased to offer our International Languages program for the 2021-22 school year. This year, International Languages classes will be offered virtually (online at home). This program is available to students in Grades 1-8 from across Windsor and Essex County.
Your child does not need a background in a particular language to be able to take advantage of this unique opportunity to acquire a second or third language. International Languages classes will run on Saturdays from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm throughout the year, beginning in October.
Classes are offered based on student enrolment numbers. Any language may be offered for which there are 25 students and an available instructor. Languages potentially offered include:
Arabic German Gujarati Hindi Italian Korean Mandarin Nepali Persian Punjabi Serbian Urdu Tamil Spanish
International Languages classes will be presented through Microsoft Teams and will require students to be able to access this online tool at home through an electronic device (computer, laptop, tablet) and access to the internet. As this is a complimentary program, technology will not be provided to families who are participating.
Please use the link below, or our webpage https://www.publicboard.ca/Programs/K-12/International-Languages to register for International Languages Classes this year. The registration deadline is Thursday, September 30, 2021.
For any further inquiries about the program, please contact Mr. David Dawson, International Languages Principal at 519-255-3200, ext. 20203.

GECDSB Covid Screening Tool
Greetings to all our Pelee Island Students and their families!
We hope that everyone enjoyed the summer! We can't wait to welcome everyone back to Pelee Island Public School! Our staff have been anxiously awaiting your arrival.
Please note, classes for Students in Grades 1 to 8 begin on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021, and classes for our JK and SK students begin on Monday, September 13th, 2021.
As per the recommendations from the WECHU, masks are required for all students in grades Kindergarten through – Grade 12. Masks can be non-medical or cloth when attending in-person instruction at school. At this time, masks are not required when learning outdoors during Fitness Breaks or Nutrition Breaks while eating.
A supply of non-medical masks will be available at schools for those students who require one. For those students who chose to wear a cloth mask, parents/guardians will be responsible to ensure that it is appropriately cleaned.
We also have a new process this year whereby all students will be required to complete the GECDSB Self-Assessment COVID Screening Tool. Please ensure this is completed before sending your child(ren) to school. This tool can be accessed using the following link: https://public.publicboard.ca/COVIDScreening/
In order to complete the screening tool, you will need your child(ren)’s 8 digit student number(s) and birthdate(s) (YYYY-MM-DD).
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact the school! We thank you for your continued support and look forward to an exciting year!
Please enjoy the upcoming long weekend!
Mr. Huggard, Mrs. Adlam, Mrs. Harnish, and the entire Pelee Island Public School Team!
