Oneida & Ojibwe Language Full Credit Courses

The Greater Essex County District School Board recognizes the importance of Indigenous languages and the connection these languages have to the preservation of First Nations cultures. These courses are for students in Grades 8-12 who have little or no background in Ojibwe or Oneida. Students will engage in experiential learning opportunities where they will learn language through cultural and land-based activities.



OJIBWE

LNO AO1 Ojibwe - Level One

This course is for students who have little or no background in Ojibwe. Students will engage in experiential learning opportunities where they will learn language through cultural and land-based activities. Students will use the language being studied for greetings, food, daily routines, expression of emotions, identification of the natural world and become familiar with its writing and sound system.


ONEIDA

LNN AO1 Oneida Level One

This course is for students who have little or no background in Oneida. Students will engage in experiential learning opportunities where they will learn language through cultural and land-based activities. Students will use the language being studied for greetings, food, daily routines, expression of emotions, identification of the natural world and become familiar with its writing and sound system.
