Vista's Concert Band members enjoyed an unforgettable three-day trip to Chicago, April 19-21, 2017. Their itinerary started at the Willis Tower (Skydeck) where students saw the unforgettable views of Chicago and Lake Michigan from the 108-storey skyscraper. The must-do activity was going out on "The Ledge", an extraordinary glass box extending four feet out of the side of the 103rd floor. Views of the city, including straight-down, were breathtaking. After lunch at The House of Blues, the group spent an educational and memorable afternoon on the fully-narrated River Cruise that focused on Chicago's rich architectural heritage and history.
The second day was jam-packed with even more adventure as the day began at the Shedd Aquarium where thousands of fish and marine life from around the world were seen. Then, off to the Navy Pier for lunch before enjoying the many exhibits at the Museum of Science and Industry. The day ended with a dinner theatre performance of Chicago at Drury Lane Theatre.
On the final day, the morning was spent at The Field Museum where the group felt honoured and privilaged to perform in the Great Hall -- such a magnificent and beautiful place! As a treat, the band members ate lunch at the best Chicago-style, deep dish pizzeria, Gino's. After a quick opportunity to shop on the Magnificent Mile, it was time to head home.
All in all, band members came home with meaningful memories that will never be forgotten. Thank you to Ms. Morosin for planning such a wonderful event!
