KDHS Auto Expo
With approximately 200 fine and fast vehicles in the Kingsville District High School parking lot, the 10th annual Tech Zone Auto Expo was held on Friday, May 18th. With all proceeds going to the local foodbank, not only was this an opportunity for people in Essex-County to showcase their cars, but also to be charitable. Mr. Osborne, our Automotive Technology Teacher and organizer of the event said, "this was the best show yet with the highest turnout." From Mustangs to Lamborghinis and even a Model T, there was a car to meet everyone's taste! A big thanks goes out to all the staff, students and participants who help make this such a great event year after year!
Eighth Annual GSA Conference
The KDHS GSA attended the GECDSB's Annual GSA Conference on May 16. There they attended workshops designed to create awareness on subjects such as well-being and inclusion, promoting safe spaces and they took part in an Anti-homophobia experiential learning art activity which they will display for Anti Homophobia and Anti Transgenderphobia day on May 17. Guest speakers included Derrick Biso from the Run for Rocky, Jeremy Dias from the Centre of Gender and Sexual Diversity and Crystal Fach from Windsor Pride. Many thanks goes out to the GECDSB and Rachel Olivero our Diversity Officer for organizing this insightful and informative day.
Cavs Get Their Cheer On!
The Cavs gave a warm cheer to the Police Officers from Windsor and Essex County as they ran through Kingsville on May 15 for the annual Torch Run for the Special Olympics. The torch run is used as a fundraiser to support the local Special Olympics. Ms. Riess' GLAS program have been selling freezies at lunch with proceeds to be donated to the torch run. Our Cavs were out in full force to support the officers as they carried the torch by the school. Way to show your school spirit CAVS!!
