Band
Instrumental students will not only have the opportunity to play in a large ensemble but they will also be able to receive individual instruction on their own instrument from expert tutors so βthat they can learn solo repertoire and chamber music. Many of our instrumental students are asked to perform for community groups around the area. Students will also be expected to study theory.

AMR1OW β BAND MUSIC REPERTOIRE COURSE
Prerequisite: Audition
This course emphasizes the performance of band music
at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill and is aimed at
developing technique, sensitivity and imagination. Students will develop
musical literacy skills by using the creative and critical analysis processes
in composition, performance, and a range of reflective and there is a theory
book fee of $20.00. Students will play in a concert band as well as receive
tutorials on their own instrument with specialized tutors.
AMR2OWβ BAND MUSIC REPERTOIRE COURSE

This course provides students with opportunities to develop
their musical literacy through the creation, appreciation, analysis, and
performance of band music, including traditional, commercial, and art music.
Students will apply the creative process when performing appropriate technical
exercises and repertoire and will employ the critical analysis processes when
reflecting on, responding to, and analyzing live and recorded performances.
Students will consider the function of music in society and the impact of music
on individuals and communities. They will explore how to apply skills developed
in music to their life and careers. There is a theory book fee of $20.00.
AMR4MW β BAND MUSIC REPERTOIRE COURSE
Prerequisite: AMR3MW, Corequisite: AMC4MW
This course enables students to enhance their musical
literacy through the creation, appreciation, analysis, and performance of band

Piano
This program offers a high level of instruction in piano performance, technique, accompanying, and theory. A variety of musical styles including jazz, will be used to improve keyboard skills, sight reading, and harmonizing at the piano. Students learn to compose their own music using computers in the classroom.

piano music at a level consistent with previous experience. Students will
develop musical literacy skills by using the creative and critical analysis
processes in composition, performance, and a range of reflective and analytical
activities. Students will develop their understanding of musical conventions,
practices, and terminology and apply the elements of music in a range of
activities. They will also explore the function of music in society with
reference to the self, communities, and cultures. There is a theory book fee of

Strings
Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass are taught in a group setting by expert tutors. Students will work on solo repertoire and technique for evaluation as well as preparing ensemble pieces for community performances. Music theory will also be an integral part of the program.
