This program offers a high level of instruction in vocal technique and a variety of vocal styles β folk songs, music theatre, wedding music, jazz, and classical. Students perform individual solos as well as a vast variety of choral music. Students perform in our own concerts as well as with different instrumental and choral ensembles around Windsor and Essex County. Music theory, history and sight-singing are also major parts of each course.

AMV1OW - VOCAL TUTORIAL
Prerequisite: Audition
This course emphasizes the performance of vocal music
at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill and is aimed at
developing technique, sensitivity and imagination. Students will develop
musical literacy skills by using the creative and critical analysis processes
in composition, performance, and a range of reflective and analytical
activities. Students will develop an understanding of sight-singing, folksongs,
and music theatre. There is a theory book fee of $20.00.
AMV2OW - VOCAL TUTORIAL
Prerequisite: AMV1OW or Audition
This course emphasizes the performance of vocal music
at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill and is aimed at
developing technique, sensitivity and imagination. Students will develop
musical literacy skills by using the creative and critical analysis processes
in composition, performance, and a range of reflective and analytical
activities. Students will discover how to prepare music for weddings and
develop an understanding of the Italian Aria and the skills involved in singing
one. There is a theory book fee of $20.00.
AMV3MW - VOCAL TUTORIAL
Prerequisite: AMV2OW or Audition
This course provides students with opportunities to
develop their musical literacy through the creation, appreciation, analysis,
and performance of vocal music, including jazz and church music. Students will
apply the creative process when performing appropriate technical exercises and
repertoire and will employ the critical analysis processes when reflecting on,
responding to, and analyzing live and recorded performances. Students will
consider the function of music in society and the impact of music on
individuals and communities. They will explore how to apply skills developed in
music to their life and careers. There is a theory book fee of $20.00.
AMV4MW - VOCAL TUTORIAL
Prerequisite: AMV3MW
This course enables students to enhance their musical
literacy through the creation, appreciation, analysis, and performance of vocal
music. Students will perform traditional, commercial, and art music, and will
respond with insight to live and recorded performances. Students will enhance
their understanding of the function of music in society and the impact of music
on themselves and various communities and cultures. Students will prepare three
solos for a final recital as part of their final summative evaluation. There is
a theory book fee of $20.00.
