All secondary school students in Ontario must complete 40 hours of community service before graduation. This helps them develop new skills and an awareness of civic responsibility as they contribute to their communities.

Minister’s Certificate of Recognition for Community Involvement
Those who exceed the minimum of 40 hours of community involvement requirement are eligible to receive a Minister’s Certificate of Recognition upon graduation. This certificate acknowledges their dedication to helping others and their commitment to community service. Visit the Ontario Government's website for additional details.
Bronze: 50 to 99 volunteer hrs Silver: 100 to 199 volunteer hrs Gold: 200+ volunteer hrs
This certificate recognizes your civic engagement, leadership and community spirit. It can also help you stand out when applying for:

- apprenticeships
- scholarships
