Julie, LDSS IB DP Class of 2022 – University of Toronto, B.Sc. Forensic Science
After finishing the IB Diploma Programme at LDSS, Julie is most proud of the time management skills she developed over her four years in the program. She was able to achieve excellent grades while volunteering, working part-time and playing three varsity sports: basketball, volleyball and badminton. “I really learned how to maintain balance in my life”. Her advice to future IB students? “Make sure to get involved in things you enjoy and stay on track with assignments and activities by keeping a calendar!” Julie is thriving in her Forensic Science program and has found that midterm exams and research papers don’t cause her concern since the IB program equipped her with all the necessary skills.
Madeleine, LDSS IB DP Class of 2022 – University of British Columbia, B.Sc. Biology
Reflecting on her IB experience, Madeleine is most proud of the strong research, critical thinking, and written communication skills she has developed. Madeleine advises future IB students to “stay on track with respect to deadlines by using a planner or calendar – this will serve you well in university”. She also recommends to “believe in yourself and don’t give up easily – you will learn to persevere in challenging times”. Like most universities, the University of British Columbia offered Madeleine “transfer credits” for her IB courses – this reduces the number of courses she will need to take to graduate and, in her case, will result in a savings of over $10 000. Madeleine said that students and their families should consider this like a scholarship!
