There are times when homework just does not make sense…..Get a Raider Peer Tutor to make sense of it.

Essex High offers a Raider Peer Tutoring Service for students who need support with homework, developing good problem-solving strategies, organization, understanding of concepts, and offering another point of view to understand their homework.

Do you want to BE a Peer Tutor? You can earn Community Service hours in your own school!

Types of Peer Tutoring

1. Student-assigned tutoring available at LUNCH

2. Drop-in tutoring available Monday-Thursday from 2:30pm-3:30pm

NOTE: Raider Peer Tutoring Services will make every effort to match you with an appropriate tutor, however, we cannot guarantee that a tutor will be available for every subject.

How will I find out?question mark

  • Students requesting a tutor will receive an Edsby message to meet their Peer Tutor at lunch in the Guidance office.
  • A Peer Tutor agreement and Student Agreement form will be distributed and signed.
  • Tutoring sessions will begin once these forms are returned to the Coordinators.

What Peer Tutors won't do:

  • They won't try to cram multiple assignments/ homework into one session. The help that is given in one session is not enough time to go over work that should’ve taken a month or more to learn.
  • They won't do the work for you. Learning is a process and doing the homework is an important part of understanding the material. If you don’t work, you won’t learn!

Raider Peer Tutors make a Difference!
