Specialist High Skills Majors
Specialist High Skills Major programs are an opportunity for senior students from all pathways to “specialize” in an area of interest.
BRDHS is proud to offer EIGHT different SHSM programs to students!
SHSM is NOT a club or an extracurricular activity. Students who are registered in an SHSM take courses that relate to the area (usually these are courses students would already be taking), and complete at least two credits of cooperative education in the area. Throughout grade 11 and 12, SHSM students receive industry-recognized training (at no cost to families) and participate in field trips and experiential learning related to the field. Every SHSM student receives free First Aid and CPR training. Students who complete the program earn a red seal on their diploma AND are eligible for SHSM scholarships offered at post secondary (currently St. Clair offers $1500, and the University of Windsor offers $1000).
