We are excited to announce the Subject-Specific PD Day. This will once again bring together Secondary teachers for a morning of learning on Friday, November 15th, 2024. 

 

Grade 9-12 educators to take on the role of Teacher-Presenters in certain subject areas.  These areas are: Math, English/Library, French, Canadian and World Studies, Science, Business and Computer Science, FNMI, Technological Studies, and Social Sciences/Humanities

We are excited to announce the Subject-Specific PD Day. This will once again bring together Secondary teachers supporting students in Special Education programs for a morning of learning on Friday, November 15th, 2024. 

A focus on providing varied learning experiences for STEPS, MAPS and LST’s will be held on this day.

Mathematics 

(MOE Literacy & Math)

Teachers will engage in a half-day of math learning centered around a common understanding of the Ministry’s priorities in mathematics.  A focus on supporting student achievement in Mathematics with a focus on ensuring fidelity of curriculum implementation, strengthening mathematics 

content knowledge for teaching and knowing the mathematics learner.

GAINS Teams 

Teachers and SSW teams in GAINS  

Half-Day 

In-Person   The Special Education Department is very pleased to be hosting a half-day PD session for GAINS teams (teachers and SSW staff). Multiple sessions will be offered for teams to engage in learning to support GAINS classroom programming and planning, in an engaging and supportive learning environment.  Sessions will be led by community partners, as well as members of the GECDSB Special Education team.    Superintendent C.   • ECE’s will engage in learning with their teaching partners within their home schools  

  • GAINS SSW staff will be attending a GAINS learning session with their GAINS team at Tecumseh Vista 

  • SSW’s in elementary will engage in Math learning with their school teams  

  • Secondary SSW Teams and CYW’s will engage in collaborative learning and planning time reviewing resources to support the Behaviour and Safety Plan development process 

  • SWDHH’s will engage in learning sessions as a team

Elementary and Secondary Half Day   In-Person  

A number of the PSSP team members will be leading PD sessions for staff across the system. Several team members will be engaged in additionallearning experiences including the Dorothy Hill Memorial Symposium for the Psychology team.  

Staff from the Speech and Language team, Behaviour Team, Social Work Team, Open Minds Team and Create Your Future Team will receive additional information from their supervisors regarding expectations for the day.
