The topics for the day are Understanding our Multilingual Language Learners, Universal Accommodations, Digital Resources and a Focus on the Whole Child.
Secondary staff will develop at deeper understanding of the diverse backgrounds, needs and strengths of English language learners and acquire practical strategies to effectively support, assess and accommodate students to foster their academic success and overall well-being.
Breaking Down Barriers: Rethinking Accommodations, Assessment and Access in Secondary Schools – Future Design Schools. This session invites secondary educators to rethink long standing assumptions about accommodations, assessment and access—and to consider what it truly means to design learning that works for all students.
An overview of Edwin, a comprehensive digital learning platform and ecosystem providing teachers and students with curriculum-aligned resources, interactive tools and lesson plans for core subjects.

Secondary ESS staff will develop at deeper understanding of the diverse backgrounds, needs and strengths of English language learners and acquire practical strategies to effectively support, assess and accommodate students to foster their academic success and overall well-being.
SSW, CYW and SWDHH staff will meet as ESS school teams at their work location to engage in learning focused on the whole child. During the morning session, staff will engage in learning together about various factors that make up a student profile and impact their learning. The afternoon session will provide an opportunity to review current program supports for students and examine student behaviour and safety plans. |
