ESS staff will engage in learning focused on supporting staff working with Indigenous students and families in the dual roles of helper and educator. The session helps participants understand how student engagement, attendance, behavior, anxiety, and disengagement can be influenced by relational, cultural, neurodevelopmental, family, school, and systemic factors. It encourages reflection on how staff members present themselves in complex educational environments, enhances practical skills for building trust with students and families, and explores how culture, identity, belonging, and systemic barriers impact student engagement and success.
ECE participants will build a shared understanding of the new Kindergarten Curriculum, including key changes and updated structure. The session will explore how explicit instruction in literacy and mathematics connects with classroom practice, while reaffirming the ongoing importance of play. |
