Seeking New Members for the Dismantling Anti-Black Racism Implementation Committee

The Greater Essex County District School Board is seeking up to five Black parents/guardians, community members, and/or staff with expertise and knowledge to join its Dismantling Anti-Black Racism (DABR) Implementation Committee for the 2026-27 school year.

The committee is composed of Black parents/guardians, community members, and staff. The primary role of the DABR Implementation Committee is to provide guidance and support to the GECDSB as it implements the DABR Strategy 2022-2027.

The committee meets four times a year, as well as additional ad hoc meetings as required.  Onboarding will be provided to all new committee members to clarify roles and responsibilities and to bring them up-to-date on the work of the committee.

If you are interested in attending an information session with Tana Turner from Turner Consulting, to garner more information about the GECDSB Dismantling Anti-Black Racism Implementation committee and the responsibilities of the committee on Tuesday, February 24th at 4 p.m. You will be contacted in advance to the meeting with a Microsoft Meeting link so that you can join the meeting.

Candidate Eligibility

To be a member of the DABR Implementation Committee, you must:

  • Live and/or work in the communities served by GECDSB, and
  • Self-identify as Black, and
  • Be a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a Black GECDSB student, and/or
  • Be a community member or represent a community organization that serves the Windsor-Essex Black community
