The Greater Essex County District School Board has developed a variety of resources for parents and guardians so you can support your child in learning math outside the classroom.

Math guides

Review our handy math guides to help you unpack a few mathematical concepts that your child will learn in the classroom:

  • Count with Your Eyes: Subitizing Guide

These guides will allow you to support your child's learning.

At home math resources

The following resources include activities, problems and games that you can solve at home with your child.

TVO Mathify (Grades 6 to 10)

TVO Mathify offers tutoring courses for students in Grade 6 to Grade 10 with Ontario Certified Teachers. They will help build your child's math skills and confidence.

University of Waterloo resources (Grade 3 to 12)

The University of Waterloo offers a variety of resources to help teach math skills at home:

  • Problem of the Week Archive (Grade 3 to Grade 12)
  • MathFrog – Math Games (Grade 4 to Grade 6)
  • Past Math Contests (Grade 6 to Grade 8)
  • Courseware and Resources (Grade 3 to Grade 12)

ABCya! (Kindergarten to Grade 6)

ABCya! offers online math games that you can play with your child. These activities will help kids have fun while learning about numbers.

MPower (Kindergarten to Grade 6)

Sign up for TVO MPower to get access to resources for parents, guardians and teachers to help provide math instructions.

Math is Fun (Grade 4 to 6)

Math is Fun is an online tool with math-based games, puzzles and worksheets for children in Grades 4 to 6. Topics include:

  • Algebra
  • Data
  • Geometry
  • Measurements
  • Numbers

Math Playground (Kindergarten to Grade 6)

Math Playground has math games, logic games, arcades, story math and more! These games focus on the following topics:

  • Add and subtract
  • Multiply and divide
  • Fractions and decimals
  • Shapes and graphs
  • Algebra

Knowledgehook (Grade 3 to 10)

Create an account with Knowledgehook and get access to a variety of math problems and activities. Your child will need to have their account set up by their teacher.

Zorbit's Math Adventure (Kindergarten to Grade 3)

Zorbit's Math Adventure provides fun resources to help teach math in a playful and creative way that doesn't focus on memorization. You'll need an account set up by your teacher to access this resource.

Khan Academy (Kindergarten to Grade 12)

The Khan Academy offers math support and resources for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. You can select your child's grade to get access to different activities.

Everyday Mathematics (Kindergarten to Grade 5)

Everyday Mathematics offers math games for each grade and unit. This is a great tool to help your child build their math skills.
