The Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB) has built a new elementary school in LaSalle to replace Prince Andrew Public School. The name of the new school is Legacy Oak Trail Public School.

The new school is located in LaSalle at 2648 Leptis Magna Drive.
Timeline
Construction on the new school began in April of 2020 and finished in the summer of 2021 with the school opening in September 2021.

School naming
The GECDSB Board of Trustees has selected Legacy Oak Trail Public School as the name for the new elementary school in LaSalle. This name was chosen by following the GECDSB School Naming Policy. The naming process included a public survey and focused on trees as symbols of the natural heritage of the region.
Two names were put forward to the Board of Trustees – Legacy Oak Trail Public School and Heritage Woods Public School.
