Chandrika Abhang

Chandrika Abhang is a Trustee at the Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB), representing the Town of Lasalle and the Town of Amherstburg.

Chandrika brings a strong background in strategic leadership, engineering, and community engagement. Her professional career spans more than a decade across research and development, product leadership, manufacturing, and global strategy, where she has worked with diverse international teams and stakeholders to guide long-term planning, resource stewardship, and system-level decision-making.

Chandrika’s journey began on the manufacturing shop floor and evolved into senior leadership roles, giving her a deep appreciation for how high-level decisions affect people and communities on the ground. Alongside her professional work, she has remained actively involved in education and community service, including School Advisory Council, STEM mentorship, and board service with regional innovation and community organizations. An award-winning filmmaker, Chandrika also brings a creative perspective to education, believing strongly in the integration of art, science, entrepreneurship and critical thinking to support the holistic development of children. As a parent and newcomer living in the Amherstburg–LaSalle area, she brings a lived understanding of the education system from a family perspective.

As a Trustee, Chandrika is committed to supporting student achievement and well-being, strengthening community trust, championing future-ready and inclusive learning, and ensuring ethical stewardship of public resources. She values collaborative governance, evidence-informed decision-making, and keeping students at the center of every decision.
